Accord For Development emerges the Community Development Organization Of The Year 2018. The award is in recognition of Accord's giant stride in community development in the Niger Delta. Garden City Advancement Agency in Port Harcourt, Rivers State hosted the award.

All Round Celebration as YESAP Beneficiaries Graduates

The ambience of the environment was quite cozy and the beneficiaries of the 3rd edition of YESAP beaming with smiles even as they gathered at the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) situated in Alesa-Eleme in Rivers State, Nigeria for their graduation ceremony.

The Youth Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Programme (YESAP) is an enterprise skills training programme targeted at youth between the ages of 18-35 years situated around Eleme and Okrika communities of Rivers State.

In this 3rd edition of the Programme, a total of 80 graduands were trained in diverse vocational skills ranging from Welding and Fabrication, Fashion Design, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Interlocking/Block moulding, Hair Dressing, Agricultural Vocational and Catering.

In his address, the Managing Director of PHRC, Engr. Abba Bukar, noted that “skill acquisition and youth empowerment is no doubt a proven route to economic prosperity for any community”. Hence, he charged the successful graduates to strive to be worthy ambassadors of the YESAP programme.

ESAP Beneficiary Received Her Graduation CertificatIn the course of the programme, the graduands were presented with their certificates and starter packs based on their vocational areas. Similarly, a cheque of One Hundred Thousand Naira to support each of the graduate for their shop rent was presented.

The 3rd edition of YESAP is jointly facilitated by Accord for Community Development and Kantas who are the trainers. The programme was bankrolled by Port Harcourt Refining Company.

A representative of the beneficiaries Moses Obari in his appreciation speech on behalf of the graduands was full of accolades for PHRC, Accord and Kantas for their diverse roles.  

Representatives from the host communities of Eleme and Okrika were on hand for the programme even as the graduates and dignitaries were treated to cultural displays from the two host communities of the state.

YESAP Beneficiary Receiving Her Started PackThe YESAP programme is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility plan of the Port Harcourt Refining Company for its host communities. Previous editions of the scheme have produced over 100 beneficiaries. Some of them have successfully carved a niche for themselves in business.
