In line with our commitment to sustainable community development and economic self-reliance, Accord, in partnership with the Ekpeye Community Development Foundation (ECDF), has successfully trained and empowered 65 youths and women across diverse vocational disciplines.
The culmination of this skill acquisition initiative was marked today by an official handover ceremony, where beneficiaries were provided with specialized starter packs designed to support the immediate launch and operation of their micro-enterprises.
Key Highlights of the Handover Ceremony
Fashion Design & Tailoring: Beneficiaries who completed training in fashion design were equipped with heavy-duty sewing machines to facilitate commercial production.
Catering Services: Catering graduates received multi-burner gas cookers to enable commercial food service operations.
HVAC & Refrigeration Maintenance: Technical trainees in refrigeration and air conditioning repair were provided with specialized toolkits, gas cylinders, and essential field gear for practical service delivery.
Community Infrastructure Support: In addition to individual starter packs, stackable venue seating was presented to support NLNG host community infrastructure and gathering spaces.
Sustainable Impact and Economic Empowerment
By bridging the gap between training and enterprise creation, this intervention ensures that participants transition directly from learning into income-generating activities. Providing professional-grade equipment alongside certified training reduces the initial barrier to entry for young entrepreneurs and women, strengthening local livelihoods and fostering economic resilience across host communities.
Accord continues to collaborate with local institutions, community leaders, and development partners to deliver targeted capacity-building initiatives that drive long-term social and economic progress.
